Dr. Luck Jr. is Professor in Residence, UCLA/Orthopaedic Institute for Children Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Current directorships include: Surgery and Rehabilitation of the Orthopaedic Hemophilia Treatment Center, Designated Institutional Officer, Pediatric Orthopaedic fellowship program at the Orthopaedic Institute for Children.
With the exception of two years in the USAF, Dr. Luck has been involved in the care of patients with hemophilia, which now represents 51 years of service. All of the years of involvement and patient treatment have been with the various orthopaedic multi-specialty clinics and the Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) at Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital, which was one of the first two federally chartered HTC programs in the U.S. Dr. Luck has led locally, nationally and internationally in traditional and novel orthopaedic and surgical interventions for those with complex orthopaedic problems and for those with bleeding disorders. He, along with Dr. Gilbert, pioneered many surgeries and orthopaedic strategies to further the care of the bleeding disorder patients so their lives could be functional and productive. The work Dr. Luck has done nationally and internationally has been recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award through the World Federation of Hemophilia. He has also been recognized as the physician of the year by the National Hemophilia Foundation. His numerous articles, abstracts, book chapters and research projects have educated medical providers around the world in general orthopaedics and the bleeding disorders community. With over 200 invited national and international lectures in reconstructive and orthopaedic surgery, he inspires all to continue to strive for the best for our complex and diverse patient population.
