Biography:
Rebecca Kruse-Jarres is the Director of the Washington Center for Bleeding Disorders (WACBD) in Seattle, WA, USA and provides care for over 1,000 people with bleeding disorders across the state of Washington. She is also Professor of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington.
Dr. Kruse-Jarres began her career in nursing, before receiving her master’s degree in Public Health and Medical Doctorate in 1999 from the School of Medicine at Tulane University. She completed her residency in internal medicine, fellowships in Hematology/Oncology and Coagulation Medicine at Tulane University. She became Associate Director of the Louisiana Center for Bleeding and Clotting Disorders and moved to Seattle to direct the Washington Center for Bleeding Disorders in 2014. Dr. Kruse-Jarres is a previous President of the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society and is an active member of the American Society of Hematology.
Dr. Kruse-Jarres has a long-standing research interest in inhibitor development and eradication in congenital and acquired hemophilia. She has participated in clinical research leading to the development of novel treatments for this patient population and continues to participate as an investigator in national and international clinical trials. Dr. Kruse-Jarres has published more than 70 original papers and 15 book chapters relating to these research interests and has authored international clinical guidelines for the management of patients with acquired hemophilia A.
